The Funny For The Day......................Soda explosion

Today we went to Disney Studio's.   It was hot so we were resting on a bench in the shade.  Two girls about in there 20s came and sat on the bench across from us.  The one girl had a bottle of sprite and when she opened it, it was a soda explosion.  It went all over the both of them.  From the top of their heads down the face down into their shirts, pants and ran down their legs.  They just sat there shocked and then they laughed.  Me being a old girl scout and always prepared had wipes and napkins in my bag.  So I went over to them and started handing out wipes and napkins so they could clean themselves up.  They didn't speak english they just kept saying gracias, gracias.

The funny for the day...............................Silly dog

In the center of the park there is a water pumping station surrounded by a chain link fence.  Every dog that walks the park has to walk around the fence and mark that he or she has been there.  This morning while I was walking the dog and he was doing his mark somehow he managed to put his leg through the chain link fence.  This of course scared him and when he tried to pull his leg out it got caught and he fell down.  Screaming like he was being murdered.  The good news is, he was not hurt but he would not even come close to the fence anymore.  Tonight when we went for our walk and he came to the park, he stopped looked into the park and saw the fence and gave it a very dirty look.  He wouldn't even go into the park instead we walked on the road.  I presume he will keep this up until he see's another dog mark the fence.

The funny for the day..............................I got hit by a bug

Last night while the dog and I were outside I saw this really big bug come flying right at me.  It hit my glasses just like a bug hits the windshield of a car.  Splat.   Now this bug must have not died but instead crawled under my glasses and bit my eyelid.  I have a huge big red bump.  Now this morning when I looked in the mirror my eyeball is all bright red.  I have boo boo eye.  That darn bug.

The funny for the day..........................the beach is closed

We went to the gulf yesterday and it was a beautiful day for a small trip.  We went to Crystal Springs beach which is on the gulf but the beach was closed for resanding.  Yes they clean the sand and resand for the sand that has been lost due to storms etc.  We couldn't go on the beach but instead had to stand on the bluffs.  I did see fish jumping out of the water and pelicans etc.  I told my husband too bad that I forgot to take a jar so I could take some sand for a souvenir.  He just gave me the strangest look and said what do you think is in our backyard?  Hello..............I forgot that our backyard is mostly sand.  I still find it strange when I am in the backyard and I find seashells.  Just think those shells are thousands of years old from when this area was all underwater.  We had a nice dinner at Stumpknockers which is on the river.  You can eat next to the river and watch the gators in the water or sunnying themselves on the grass.  You can also take a river boat ride to see the gators up close.  Way to close for me.  Homemade food and desserts.  Great day.

The Funny For The Day...................Boy do we feel stupid

Since we have lived here we have always wanted to go to the coast.  The gulf of Mexico.  But it is far and it would be a day trip so we would have to board the dog etc.  Husband is time we just go.  He called AAA to get a trip ticket and map out directions, places to eat and stay.  AAA thought he was crazy but ok we will give you one.  Yesterday husband picked up the trip ticket and when he got home he decided to read it and plan out our big trip.  Notice I said BIG trip.  He just sat there and stared at it.  He then called me into the livingroom to discuss our plans.  He just looked at me with this silly grin.  Here it goes, are you ready....when you come out of the driveway turn right and then go about 35 miles and there you are at the Gulf Of Mexico.  I was like WHAT, 35 miles.  You mean to tell me all this time we thought it was a big trip.  Ok, on the map it looked farther then it really is.  Boy do we feel stupid.  Disney World is farther from our house than the Gulf Of Mexico.

The Blue Haired Gang.....................The old guy is a pot head

This mornings walk with Helmsley the dog was interesting to say the least.   We met at the park Jim and his dog Giggie.  Jim is telling me he has not beeing sleeping good at night.  I told him do what my doctor says and take a benadryl at night.  He says that is what alot of old people do.  He said no that doesn't work for him.  What he does need is to smoke some marijuana that always help.  But he doesn't know where to buy it and he really doesn't have any friends with connections.  Oh, he says he only smokes it to help him sleep but when he was younger he smoked all the time.  Ok your an old pot head.  He keeps pressing the issue and how it is illegal in Florida.  Finally I told him, why don't you just move to California where it is legal.  He says I thought about it, but is it really a good idea to move there just for marijuana.  Oh heaven help me, let me get away from this guy.  After telling him, I really have to go now, he just kept talking and talking, I finally just turned and walked away from.  He did not get it that he was sharing way to much with me.    I just realized that when we were walking down the road to the park he was just sitting in his car and when we finally got close to where he was he and his dog got out of the car.  That old goof was waiting for us since we walk every morning at that time.   I guess it is time to change my routine.

The Funny For The Day......................Rain Rain Go Away

Our weather here has been beautiful low 70s high 80s no rain for weeks.  Our daughter and her husband come to Florida and what do they get....RAIN.  First of all our clock radio which is suppose to jump ahead with the time change did not, so we did not get up earlier enough to go have breakfast with them.  We had pouring rain for the hour and half drive to Disney oh just say rained all day.  I left her a message when we got to her hotel and said we are here.  We waited and she did not call back so I called and left another message that said we are getting on the bus to go to the Magic Kingdom, I will call again when we get there.  We are getting on the bus and just sitting down when my phone rings, she says do not get on the bus we are on our way back to the hotel because they are soaking wet and need to change.  I can barely hear her and I say, you want us to get off the bus and she said yes so we got up and got back off the bus.  People must have thought we were crazy.  They came back and changed and then we were off again this time wearing the famous Disney ponchos.  I had on a rain coat and rain hat.  I really looked adorable.  Yeah right,  I looked like my mother.  So we spent the day walking around in the rain.  We had a nice dinner at Tony's Town Square and then decided it was time to go home.  Now on Friday night on the way home we ran into a hour long backup delay on the highway.  We aren't too sure except for the fact that the electric road sign said all lanes closed used alternate route.  We couldn't get off so we were stuck.  We did come upon a over turned semi so there you have it.  Now tonight on the way home again with the electric sign,....all lanes closed use alternate route.  Oh no not again.   Sure enough, we get into the backup but this time we were in the right lane the exit came up and we got off.  Where who knows,  we saw places we never saw before.  Thank goodness for the gps or we would have been lost.   I just hope the kids have a sunny rest of their vacation and no rain.

Update.....On the news I heard at the backup was caused by a 25 car accident.  Between the rain, traffic due to spring break and daytona bike week starting it was just a mess.

The Funny For The Day...............................Suprise

Our daughter and her husband are on vacation at Disney World in Florida.  Before they came her husband was talking to his parents who live in Port Charlotte.  They were going to come up for the day and visit with them at Disney.  His mother then decided that it would be too long of a day to drive home so they would just spend the night with them in their hotel room.  Daughter was like, hell no.  Tell your mom we only have 1 bed. Mother-in law replied all of the rooms have 2 beds and we will just stay with you.  Daughter said if they do that, then I am going just take my happy little butt down to the concierge desk and get my own room.  They have now decided that they will drive home, so all is good.  So yesterday when daughter and son-in-law came we decided to suprise them and be there at the hotel when they arrived.  We brought our suitcases so when they came we would just tell them we decided to stay in their room.  :)  We got to the hotel and we were sitting on the bench right by the door so when they got off the bus from the airport they would see us sitting there with our suitcases.  The bus arrived and we watched everyone get off the bus.  But no daughter :(.  So we decided to get a soda and just wait for the next bus to arrive.  As husband and I were walking past the check-in desks we heard Mom, Dad what are you doing here?  We were like, how did you get past us?  Our daughter went right past us and we didn't even see her.  She must have been hidden behind the crowd that came in all at once.  So the suprise that was suppose to be on her was on us.  Her husband was outside still getting the suitcases off the bus so he missed the effect of the suitcases.  Daughter just rolled her eyes and knew we were kidding.  So much for that.  We did have a nice lunch with them and we went to Epcot together for awhile before we left them.  Tomarrow we are going to meet for breakfast and then do the Magic Kingdom and have supper at Tony's Town Square.  It will be a fun day.

So today all the stuff that would have been done yesterday I had to cram into today.  I did make oatmeal raisin cookies today.  I would share the recipe but it can be found on any Quaker Oatmeal box.

The Funny For The Day.........................SHOPLIFTER

Today I went grocery shopping at my favorite Walmart and when I was leaving the store there in front of me was a women with a full cart of electronics trying to leave the store.  Well she didn't get too far before the police nabbed her.  Yes she was shoplifting the whole cart of electronics.  Some people are just so bold.  Oh there was about 8 kids, I call them kids they looked to be high school age all dressed in black, baggy pants, piercing up the wazoo and tattooted to the hilt.  You get the picture.  Surrounding her, besides the cop.  I had to stand there because I could not get around them.  I then saw it.  All of these so called kids had the chains around there necks and hanging from the chains were there police badges.  21 Jump Street all over.  The undercover cops are getting younger all the time.  Next time you go to the store and you think those wild looking punks are just punks, think again some of them just might be police officers.  The embarrassing thing is when I could pass my pizza crust slid out of my cart and I had to chase it down.  When I got outside of the store blocking the front of the store was, yes you guessed it 4 more of those so called kids all dressed in black and the girl had purple hair.

The funny for the day.............................match it, what a nightmare

I know I have been slow in adding a new story but this story is actually a complaint.  The other day I went grocery shopping with my coupons and match ad's in hand.  You know the place.  I have to set this up for you.  I was on the other end of the store when I remembered I forgot to get dog biscuits so I trucked all the way to the other end of the store.  I got my biscuits and decided to see how long the line was in the garden center to check out.  Now I did not have that many groceries but what I did have was the match items etc.  There was no one at the checkout so I thought great.  I even got another cart to put my bags in since the counter is short.  Still no one behind me.  I got all done and now it was my match ad items.  First the clerk says to me let me see the ad, now per the store rules you don't need to bring in the ad they will know it.  Lucky for me I always circle and hi lite what items and they are at the end of my cart so things move smoothly.  Now the clerk is taking her sweet time, oh I can't find it in the ad.  It is no good.  So I have to show her everything.  My big problem came with the buy one get one free.  That turned into a big nightmare.  She refused to do it.  I asked her to call for the manager and she refused.  Now the line behind me is starting to grow.  She was not being a good employee at all.  This is taking sometime and the line is growing longer and longer.  She is refusing to honor the store deal that we see on their store ad's all the time.  At one point she even says to me, I should have never come through the garden center and look what I have done.  The line is getting longer and longer.  It is all my fault.  Again, I ask her to call the manager and again she refuses.  Now another clerk shows up and they begin to talk about me how I am causing all of this trouble.  It is there store policy not mine.  Finally my bill gets rung up and it is $160.00.  Now there is no way in heck that my bill is $160.00.  I did not buy that much.  I ask to see the slip to make sure it is correct.  She turns the screen around so I can see it and she says....see it is all there it is correct.  She is like, just pay it.  I told her the money is coming out of my checkbook not her's and this is not right.  I was really suprised the people behind didn't start complaining.  I did not yell or cause a scene but my bill was not right.  I paid it and left.  Now when I got to my car I looked at my receipt and guess what....she did not take off any of the coupons or the buy one get one free.  I knew I was right.  I had to turn my cart around and go inside to customer service.  Mind you it is 90 degrees outside and my milk, butter eggs and icecream are getting warm and melting.  I am not a happy camper.  I went to customer service and showed them my receipt and my match ad's etc and they had to refund me the difference.  I still did not get angry or raise my voice but I did tell them I was not happy.  To be treated that way and to embarrass me in front of other customers was not a good thing.   By the time I got home I was fuming.  After I unpacked my groceries I did call the store and spoke with the manager.  I told her everything and how the clerk treated me and never did give me the discounts etc.  She said the employee will be talked to.  She also apologized up and down but still it did not makeup for what I went through.  Did she or will she talk with that clerk, who knows.  I did not mention the store by name, but I think you all know what store it was.  Will I shop there again, of course, but I will never go in that womens line again.
