The Funny For The Day..................Having your taxes done can be funny

Today was that day of the year.  It is the day that I go and have my taxes done.  I hate doing taxes.  So today I decided to go see someone new to have them done.  I go do it and my husband stays home.  He hates it more than I do.  First of all the tax preparer is older than me.  Ok, but for some odd reason he either did not like me or thought she is a blonde and dumb as a box of rocks.  I am really not too sure.  He kept asking me the dumbest questions and at one point he even asked me if I was a police officer.  No to that one.  How he thought that, I will never know.  After an hour an a half of him giving me that you are so dumb look we were finished.  Now it turns out I do have to have my husband there so he can sign the taxes.  So home I go to get him.  We get back to the tax place and my grumpy tax man has turned into a comic.  He took one look at my husband and started telling jokes.  It turns out my tax man is a jewish comedian and he has even wrote a book...."Jewish Jokes for the Soul".  Oh he told us Jewish jokes and Irish jokes etc.  He told us jokes for a half an hour.  Then he said wait, let me go to my car and get you a copy of my book and he autographed it for us.  He is a very funny man.  Finally we are done and he walks us outside and wants us to sit on the bench with him.  He then precedes to tell us more jokes and tell us his life story.  He even invities us to his home next month were there is going to be a airplane show.  Yes where they live there is a runway for airplanes.  So in the end, I got my taxes done, had jokes told to us and got invited out.   In a strange way taxes can be funny.

The jokes are funny and I would tell you one from the book, but I do not want to offend anyone.

The Funny For The Day................................How high is your gas?

2/27/12          Today's gas price at what I like to call the price gauging station is $3.85.   I have seen this station raise its prices 3 times in 1 day.  I don't buy my gas there.  I buy it at the cheaper station which is usually up to 10 cents cheaper.  I call it the gas station massage parlor.  Why, because there is a massage parlor attached to the gas station.  Weird I know.
2/29/12        $3.83  hey hey it went down 2 whole cents.

The Funny For The Day...................................Senior Discounts

Senior discounts
Pass this Information on to your family & friends
If you can't use these keep them in mind for your family members (PARENTS!!) From a friend.....

As I was waiting in line behind an older gentleman at Wendy's recently, I heard him ask for his senior discount. The girl at the register apologized and charged him less. When I asked the man what the discount was, he told me that seniors over 55 gets 10% off everything on the menu, every day.
Being that age myself, I figured I might as well ask for the discount too. As I waited for my turn, I thought about the consequences of doing so. If the employee asked me for I.D., it could be embarrassing having to show my license. But if she didn't ask for proof, I would get depressed that I really did look "old" and that I didn't need to prove it. Since I always like to save money, I boldly asked for the discount, and sadly she just rang up the discount (even though I am convinced I don't look a day over 54).
Anyway, this incident prompted me to do some research, and I came across a list of restaurants, supermarkets, department stores, travel deals and other types of offers giving various discounts with different age requirements. I was actually surprised to see how many there are and how some of them start at the young age of 50.
This list may not only be useful for you, your friends and family.
Hmm, Dun kin Donuts gives free coffee to people over 55. If you're paying for a cup every day, you might want to start getting it for free.

The Funny For The Day...............................It better be dead

Today I had to go to the feed and grain store to get the dog pigs ears.  He loves them.  When I got out of the car at the feed and grain store there laying on the ground was a rattle snake.  I really did a double take.   I quickly realized he was dead.  Yes I double checked to make sure he was dead.  It really wasn't that hard to tell he was dead as it had been runover by a car.  Flat as a pancake, oh yes he was dead.   Now me being me,  I tried to figure out how to scrape him off the ground so I could have his skin.  But alas I did not.  :)

Nancy's Recipe Box..................Peanut Butter Brownie Cups

Today was I need to make brownies day.  One of the things I crave peanut butter and chocolate.   This is quick and easy recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 package (21-1/2 ounces) fudge brownie mix
  • 15 to 18 miniature peanut butter cups

Directions

  • Mix brownie batter according to package directions. Fill paper-lined or foil-lined muffin cups two-thirds full.
  • Remove wrappers from peanut butter cups; set one in each muffin cup and press down until batter meets the top edge of the candy. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes. Cool in pan for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. Yield: about 1-1/2 dozen.
Betty Crocker's Fudge Brownie mix bakes best for this recipe.

vintage sweater vest 70s sears kings road heather blue grandpa cardigan vest l xl rick santorum style

This is a vintage 70s grandpa's heather blue cardigan sweater vest. The color of the vest is heather blue. You can see in the closeup pictures the little bits of different colors that makeup the heather blue. The vest has the unique scroll ribbing down the front, neck and pockets. The hem has the classic ribbed knit. Around the neck and down the front and pockets are trimmed in black. The vest buttons down the front with 6 round pearlized buttons. The vest is from Kings Road Sears Men's Store. It is 50% lambs wool and 50% polyester. It is very soft and yes it does have some stretch due to the polyester. It is marked a size xl but in todays measurements it is more like a large and measures,

44" chest (underarm to underarm and doubled)
24" arm hole
25.5" long

The vest is in fantastic vintage condition with no items to note. It has been gently worn, if worn at al. Winter is not yet over and it will keep you toasty on those cold winter days. It is a mans vest, but really I would call it unisex.

On the funny side of things dress like Rick Santorum.

Prayer chain for Elizabeth

In doing what I do, I meet alot of people.  Today I met a very nice woman named Elizabeth that has some very serious medical issues.  She could use the prayer chain.  You know I am a person of faith and that I believe in the power of prayer.  So please everyone lets put Elizabeth into our prayers.  Here is what she wrote me.

If it weren't for prayer, I feel certain I wouldn't be here at all. I have had terminal lung disease and survived it! Oh, the stories I could tell you...prayer has been so powerful and I have had many miracles. Even my doctors can't explain how I have come through the deadliest situations. I am so fortunate that I will be going to Jewish National in Denver and they are the best in the world for respiratory diseases. If anyone can help me, it will be them. I would be grateful for any prayers and your kindness truly humbles me. I will pray for your best friend's husband and I wish them all the best. God bless you Nancy :0)

If you,  or someone else you know really needs our prayers because they are facing serious medical issues please join my blog so others and I can help through the power of prayer.    My blog is meant to bring laughter with my stories and jokes.  It also lets me give support through prayers during tough times and when you feel better you can bake some delicious cookies from my recipes.  Thank you all,

The Funny For The Day..................Best ever senior citizen joke

A little silver-haired lady calls her neighbor and says, "Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get started."

Her neighbor asks, "What is it supposed to be when it's finished?"

The
little silver haired lady says, "According to the picture on the box, it's a rooster."

Her neighbor decides to go over and help with the puzzle.

She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table.

He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says,

"First of all, no matter what we do, we're not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a rooster."

He takes her hand and says, "Secondly, I want you to relax. Let's have a nice cup of tea, and then," he said with a deep sigh .............

Prayer Chain Update

Well everyone,  I was hoping that I did not have to do another update and start the prayer chain again but I do.  My best friends husband is back in the hospital.  It started last Tuesday.  He was feeling fine no problems when he went in for his daily infusion.  It seems his pulse rate was getting higher and higher so they put him in because of atrial flutter.  They had to go back in and freeze that part of the heart that was causing him problem.  Everything went fine and back home he goes.  We do know he will need a pace maker.  Yesterday when he went for his daily infusion they found he had a temp of 102 and fluid in the lungs.  At my last update they did not know if he had pneumonia and worse yet, they think his horrible infection that started this whole thing might be back.  With the super strong antibiotics they are giving him they hope it isn't back.   Back in the hospital he went.  He then got another flight for life flight to the heart hospital.  My best friend is on a roller coaster ride of her life.  As the best friend all you can do is sit and listen and pray.  We got him through this once with all of our prayers we can do it again.    Updates again when I get them.

Nancy's Recipe Box.........................Grandma's Paczki Recipe

Prep Time: 45 minutes

Cook Time: 6 minutes

2 rises: 3 hours

Total Time: 3 hours, 51 minutes

Yield: 2 dozen Polish Paczki

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups warm milk (no warmer than 110 degrees)
  • 2 packages active dry yeast (remember to proof yeast before you begin)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 4 ounces (1 stick) room-temperature butter
  • 1 large room-temperature egg
  • 3 large room-temperature egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon brandy or rum
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 1/2 to 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 gallon oil for deep frying
  • Granulated sugar (optional)
  • Confectioner's sugar (optional)
  • Fruit paste for filling (optional)

Preparation:

  1. Add yeast to warm milk, stir to dissolve and set aside. In a large bowl or stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream together sugar and butter until fluffy. Beat in eggs, brandy and salt until well-incorporated.
  2. Still using the paddle attachment, add 4 1/2 cups flour alternately with the milk-yeast mixture and beat for 5 or more minutes by machine and longer by hand until smooth. My grandmother used to beat the dough with a wooden spoon until it blistered. Dough will be very slack. If too soft, add remaining 1/2 cup flour, but no more.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl. Cover and let rise until doubled in bulk, anywhere from 1 to 2 1/2 hours or follow this Quick Tip to cut the rise time. Punch down and let rise again.
  4. Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface. Pat or roll to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut rounds with 3-inch biscuit cutter. Remove scraps, and re-roll and re-cut. Cover and let rounds rise until doubled in bulk, 30 minutes or longer.
  5. Heat oil to 350 degrees in large skillet or Dutch oven. Place pączki top-side down (the dry side) in the oil a few at a time and fry 2 to 3 minutes or until bottom is golden brown. Flip them over and fry another 1 to 2 minutes or until golden brown. Make sure the oil doesn't get too hot so the exterior doesn't brown before the interior is done. Test a cool one to make sure it's cooked through. Adjust cooking time and oil heat accordingly.
  6. Drain pączki on paper towels or brown paper bags, and roll in granulated sugar while still warm. Note: You can poke a hole in the side of the pączki and, using a pastry bag, squeeze in a dollop of the filling of choice. Then dust filled pączki with granulated sugar, confectioners' sugar or glaze.
  7. Pączki don't keep well, so gobble them up the same day you make them or freeze.
  8. Note: Always use caution when working with hot oil, especially around children. Have a fire extinguisher designed for grease fires at the ready.

I love Polish Paczki.   Being Polish has its rewards.  I could eat donuts until I explode.  My favorite filling is prune or raspberry.

Nancy's Recipe Box...................Tomato Soup Spice Cake

This recipe has been around for many many years.  I have been making it for 35+ years.  It is one of my husbands favorite cakes.

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/3 cups sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons ground allspice
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell's® Condensed Tomato Soup
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
2 eggs
1/4 cup water
Cream Cheese Frosting
  • Heat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 13x9-inch baking pan.
  • Stir the flour, sugar, baking powder, allspice, baking soda, cinnamon and cloves in a large bowl. Add the soup, shortening, eggs and water. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed just until blended. Increase the speed to high and beat for 4 minutes. Pour the batter into the pan.
  • Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan on a wire rack for 20 minutes. Frost with the Cream Cheese Frosting.

RECIPE TIPS

  • Cream Cheese Frosting: Beat 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened, 2 tablespoons milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract in a medium bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed until the mixture is creamy. Slowly beat in 1 package (16 ounces) confectioners' sugar until the frosting is desired consistency.

The Funny For The Day....................Not all thieves are stupid

This really isn't the funny for the day.  It is some wise information for you to think about.

GPS

A couple of weeks ago a friend told me that someone she knew had their car broken into while they were at a football game. Their car was parked on the green which was adjacent to the football stadium and specially allotted to football fans. Things stolen from the car included a garage door remote control, some money and a GPS which had been prominently mounted on the dashboard.
When the victims got home, they found that their house had been ransacked and just about everything worth anything had been stolen. The thieves had used the GPS to guide them to the house. They then used the garage remote control to open the garage door and gain entry to the house. The thieves knew the owners were at the football game, they knew what time the game was scheduled to finish and so they knew how much time they had to clean out the house. It would appear that they had brought a truck to empty the house of its contents.

Something to consider if you have a GPS - don't put your home address in it.. Put a nearby address (like a store or gas station) so you can still find your way home if you need to, but no one else would know where you live if your GPS were stolen.
MOBILE PHONES I never thought of this.......

This lady has now changed her habit of how she lists her names on her mobile phone after her handbag was stolen. Her handbag, which contained her cell phone, credit card, wallet... Etc...was stolen.
20 minutes later when she called her hubby, from a pay phone telling him what had happened, hubby says 'Ireceived your text asking about our Pin number and I've replied a little while ago.' When they rushed down to the bank, the bank staff told them all the money was already withdrawn. The thief had actually used the stolen cell phone to text 'hubby' in the contact list and got hold of the pin number. Within 20 minutes he had withdrawn all the money from their bank account.

Moral of the lesson:

Do not disclose the relationship between you and the people in your contact list.

Avoid using names like Home, Honey, Hubby, Sweetheart, Dad, Mom, etc....

And very importantly, when sensitive info is being asked through texts, CONFIRM by calling back.

Also, when you're being texted by friends or family to meet them somewhere, be sure to call back to confirm that the message came from them. If you don't reach them, be very careful about going places to meet 'family and friends' who text you..

*PLEASE PASS THIS ON
* I never thought about the above!
As of now, I no longer have 'home' listed on my cell phone.

Even if this does not pertain to you....Pass it on to your family & friends

The Funny For The Day....................We got banned from the Piggly Wiggly

Since I am doing grocery store stories I figured I will tell you another one.

When daughter was about 4 years old she was a very energetic kid and she still is as an adult.  When we went grocery shopping she always wanted to push the cart. Oh this day she took off with the cart and preceded to round the bend in the store with the cart going at a good rate of speed.  There in the middle of a open space was a 12 ft stack of soda bottles in the shape of a pyramid.  It was huge.  As she rounded the bend she hit that stack of soda bottles just right and down came that huge 12 ft stack of soda bottles.  It made a horrible crash.  I really don't remember what I did at that moment, but what I do remember is the store mananger came up to us and kicked us out of the store.  Yes we got banned from the Piggly Wiggly.  I can laugh at it now, but then it wasn't that funny.

The Funny For The Day...........................Do you want to hear a joke?

Several stories ago I told you about the old man in the grocery store that held my cart hostage.  While I was writing that I remembered a story that happened about 20 years ago.

About 20 years ago or so everytime I went to the grocery store I would run into this very nice elderly Jewish man.  He would come up to me and say do you want to hear a joke and then precede to tell me a very old Jewish joke.  They were funny but they were so old.  I don't why he always picked on me, but he did.   Oh we would also talk about anything he wanted to talk about after he told me his joke.  This went on for about a year and truthfully I looked forward to seeing him every week.  Then he was gone.  I never knew his name or what happened to him, but everytime I hear a old Jewish joke I think of him.

The Funny For The Day..............................Cattle Call

Sometimes I read articles in the newspaper that I find way too funny and I have to pass it on.

The Blue Haired Gang...................................Dirty Old Man

This morning my daughter called and she was very very upset.  Part of her job is to deliver meals on wheels to the elderly.   When she went to this one house, the elderly man greeted her totally naked.  Yes I said totally naked.  She just screamed and just shoved his food at him and ran.  When she called she was like, I am never going to be able to eat again without thinking of that dirty naked old man.  She did call her boss and report the man.  Her boss just laughed.  I think she inherited my luck, or should I say if it is weird and stupid it will happen to me and now it is happening to her.  My poor daughter.

The Blue Haired Gang...........................She did WHAT !!!!!!!!!

When the dog and I go for our nightly walk we usually meet up with our friend Paula and her little dog.  We live in a 55 community and my friend is a phase director.  She has been telling me that the meetings are really getting out of control.  I mean way out of control.  They are so bad that the police have had to be called several times.  The residents are yelling and screaming and are leaning towards fist fights.  It seems that there are 2 groups of people and they are really going at one another.  The other night the police had to breakup the fight and he was like, I don't believe this.  This is an 55 and over community and you are acting like high school kids.  Now you are wondering how did this all start, it seems that the treasure (the lady that is in charge of the money from the bingo games, pot luck dinners, dances etc) has been keeping the money for the past 8 years.  Yes I did say the last 8 years.  She has not turned in any of that money.    The profits are to be used for fixing up the club houses, pool etc.   How has it gone on so long, who knows.  So the one group of people are her friends.  Maybe they are sharing the stolen money.  The other group is the group that wants to send her to jail.   I really need to attend one of these meetings.

Nancy's Cookie Jar...................Frosted Orange Cookies

Today is cookie baking day.  One of my all time favorites is the Frosted Orange Cookie.  I love orange cookies or cakes.

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2-1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted

Directions

  • In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in milk and 6 tablespoons orange mixture. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture until blended.
  • Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 in. apart onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 10-13 minutes or until set and edges are lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.
  • For frosting, in a small bowl, combine confectioners' sugar, butter and enough of the remaining orange mixture to achieve spreading consistency. Frost cookies.

.         Makes about 4 dozen depending on the size of your cookie.

The Funny For The Day.........................Robot in the front yard

This morning when I sat down to read the paper this article was in the police beat of our newspaper.  I found it too funny so I had to pass it on.

Woman complains of robot in yard
UNION GROVE — Racine County sheriff’s deputies responded for a report of civil trouble at about 12:32 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3 to the 1200 block of State Street in Union Grove, according to a report.
A complainant told a deputy a resident who lives on the block has a robot on his front lawn. The robot’s eyes reportedly lights up when she drives by and she believed it was a distraction to motorists, the report said.
The deputy drove by the residence and noticed the robot but did not see its eyes light up, according to the report.
The deputy did not believe there were any violations with the robot being in the yard.

The Funny For The Day..........................The Winter Blonde

♥♥♥ Before anybody that finds blonde jokes offensive gets mad,  let me tell you I am a blonde and have been the butt of many blonde jokes.  So to me, I find them funny. ♥♥♥

The trucker lowers his window, and she says "Hi, my name is Heather and you are losing some of your load."
The trucker ignores her and proceeds down the street.
When the truck stops for another red light, the girl catches up again. She jumps out of her car, runs up and knocks on the door.
Again, the trucker lowers the window. As if they've never spoken, the blonde says brightly, "Hi my name is Heather, and you are losing some of your load!" Shaking his head, the trucker ignores her again and continues down the street.
At the third red light, the same thing happens again. All out of breath, the blonde gets out of her car, runs up, knocks on the truck door. The trucker rolls down the window. Again she says "Hi, my name is Heather, and you are losing some of your load!"
When the light turns green the trucker revs up and races to the next light.
When he stops this time, he hurriedly gets out of the truck, and runs back to the blonde.
He knocks on her window, and after she lowers it, he says... ?
"Hi, my name is Mark, it's winter in Minnesota, and I'm driving the SALT TRUCK!"

The blue haired gang..................................my leg doesn't hurt

Today while I was out walking I came upon a elderly man and woman.  The man was wearing shorts and not in good of shape.  He had one arm in a sling and on one knee he had a brace.  He also walked, I should say hobbled with a cane.  As he was walking he said to the lady, you know my left leg doesn't hurt, as he tapped it with his cane.  I know you are asking what is so funny about that.  What is funny about it is,  he did not have a left leg what he did have was a metal prosthetic leg.   It was one of those things, you just had to see.

The Blue Haired Gang......................Do you want to push my cart for me

Today while I was grocery shopping today in the cereal isle a blue haired old man stopped me and started asking me questions about why does cereal that is sugar free cost more than regular cereal and what about cookies again sugar free or natural cookies cost more than regular cookies.  I tried to explain to him that it costs more to take things out than to put them in.  Even though he was satisfied with my answer he kept going on and on.  Now I am trying to get away from this man when he grabbed my cart and held on to it.  He then preceded to lay across my cart so there was no way I could get it.   I finally asked him, do you want to push my cart for me so I can finish the rest of my shopping?  He just stoodup and said no, and so I said then can I have my cart back.  He just laughed and walked away.  But every where I went he was right behind me.  I finally lost him in the toilet paper isle.

Prayer Chain Update

After 4 long weeks my best friends husband is finally home from the hospital.  It has been a long road but he has come a long long way since the day he entered the hospital.  He will have a caregiver with him at all times when my friend is at work.  He needs to go to the hospital for therapy and to have daily medical treatments.  He is home and hungry and wanting to go out to his favorite resturants.  Can you blame him after 4 weeks in the hospital.  Most of that time he had a feeding tube.  My best friend is a fantastic cook he just wants to get out and do things.  He is using his left arm more and more which is all good. He suffered 3 strokes so the doctors were unsure if he would ever use his right arm again.  He won't be able to drive for quite awhile and he is ok with that.  He wants to get back to work as soon as possible.  But that will be a long time before he can do that.  It is all good news and we thank everyone who prayed for him during his horrible ordeal.  As I have stated before, the power of prayer is very powerful.

catlady531 on Etsy..............the teacup and saucer sets have arrived

Over the next couple of days, I will be listing teacup and saucer sets.  I just love them.

This is a vintage 60s Crownford fine bone china teacup and saucer set. The set I believe is hand painted and is decorated with the shades of purple and gold pansies. The meaning of the flower Pansy is Loving Thoughts. The rim of the cup is ever so slightly scalloped and has the gold gilt trim. The gold gilt trim is also around the base and down the handle. The saucer also has the slight scalloped edge and has the gold gilt trim. Both the cup and saucer have the gold gilt Crownford Fine Bone China Made In England backstamp. The saucer stamp looks black due to the light, but it is gold just like the cup. If my information is correct this backstamp was used 1963-1985 which was the end of production. The cup stands 2.75" tall and 3.25" in diameter. The saucer is 5.5" in diameter. The set is in fantastic vintage condition with no items to note. No chips, cracks, no wear on the gilt etc. This cup saucer was used for display only. The reason I say it is hand painted is, if you notice on picture 3 you will see a couple of tiny green dots that I think were made when it was hand painted. It is in the glaze. It is a beautiful set to add to your teacup and saucer collection. Bone china from England or maybe you just love to collect the teacups with flowers.

The Funny For The Day...................I don't believe I just did that

Today I stopped at the grocery store to get a loaf of bread.  To my suprise I did not have enough money in my wallet to get the bread.  No problem get out the debit card and since I needed some money I will just get $20.00 while I am at it.  Ok, I put in the 2 and poof the screen went blank.  What happened?  The clerk is like, lets just see how much money you are getting back.....yep that is right, I got 2 cents back.  Now mind you, there are people behind me and everyone had a good laugh.  The clerk told me to buy a candy bar so I could try again.  This time I got it right.  The moral of the story,   I got my 2 cents worth for the day.   Some days I am part of the blue haired gang.

catlady531 on Etsy 70s rust burnt orange kiltie heels

These shoes bring back alot of memories.  I had so many pairs of these shoes.

This is a pair of vintage 70s rust of burndt orange leather kiltie shoes. They are a full leather upper with the cute kilitie and bow decoration. They also have the laced stitch detail around the toe. They also have the contrasting top stitching detail and a 2.75" wood stacked heel. They are also lined. The brand name and size has faded so I cannot read it. They measure...9.5" long and 3" wide. The measurements are taken inside of the shoe. I wear a size 7 and they are 1 finger too big for me. I would say they are either a 7.5 or 8. Please know your shoe or foot measurements for a proper fit. They are in excellent vintage condition with items to note....some scuffs in the leather and normal wear on the soles. These are the classic 70s burnt orange rust leather hippie boho shoes. They are a must for the true 70s look.

catlady531 on Etsy Tiger novelty print shirt

I just listed this shirt on Etsy and I love love love it.

This is a fantastic vintage 70s disco cerruti novelty print shirt. The base color is a rich orange red with nothing but tigers all over it. The shirt has the pointed styling collar with the extra piece in the back so you can pop the collar if you want to. The shirt buttons down the front with 7 abalone shell buttons. The shirt also has 1 chest pocket. The pocket matches perfectly to the pattern, so you never know it is there. The shirt also has the straight hem with side slits. The back of the shirt also has the shoulder blade pleats for ease of movement for when you strut your stuff or shaking it out on the dance floor. The long sleeves have a single button on each cuff. The shirt is from Cerruti-CXIII and printed in Italy. It is 100% cotton and marked a size l and measures...

46" Chest (underarm to underarm and doubled)
29.25" long
24" sleeve
18.25" shoulder point to point
19" shoulder blades

The shirt is in fantastic vintage condition with no items to note. It has been gently worn, if worn at all. It is perfect for disco, leisure wear or year of the tiger. Maybe they call you tiger.

This is a mans shirt so it would be a large. For women it would be a extra large. I wear a extra large shirt and it fits me perfectly, except the sleeves are too long. You can always rollup the sleeves. I love this shirt.

The Prayer Chain update

To all of the wonderful people out there who are on the prayer chain, I have great news to report.  My best friends husband is going home from the hospital on Monday 2/6/12.  It is hard to believe how far this man has come.  The doctors are amazed by him.  When he went into the hospital, my best friend was told he would not survive and in fact he died.  If he wasn't on his way into the operating room for open heart surgery he would not be here.  His memory is back at now 99%, his kidneys are coming back but they are not yet up to full function.  He will be able to have home therapy or go to the hospital for therapy.  At first he was having to go to the nursing home for rehab and now he can come home.  My best friend has heard from friends of friends of friends all over the world that has heard about her husband and are praying for him.  This prayer chain has gone world wide.  Not only from my blog but her facebook page as well.  Never, never under estimate the power of prayer.  Each and everyone of you, have helped him, we will all be eternally grateful.   I will update when I have more news.
